I don't normally juggle reading two books at once but I needed a more serious read to balance out the Mame.

Some of the 50s humor definitely sets off cringe panic alarm bells but Auntie Mame is simply the best to ever do it.

I don't think I've ever thought about how much of a surveillance state the slave states were. Like you can't say literally anything to a white person without being snitched on. And you can't trust so-called abolitionist because what if they're actually spies trying to get you in trouble?

I put this on my huge reading list almost a year ago and by freak coincidence I just happened to start it on Feb 1st. Definitely required reading.
