Reading this in search of typos for the third time is not the most enjoyable experience . . . but I do love the gnomes!

I read this when I was 12 and it blew me away. After all these years . . . Still has amazing ideas; still has indistinguishable characters.

I just have to say: It's a shame the Foundation never hired an ANTHROPOLOGIST to . . . you know . . . visit/learn about/categorize other cultures. Just sayin'.

"Everything is close to my face.
And everything close to my face is rock." - Rilke

This book is both unintelligible and inescapable...
Ok I made it through the world parents, and now I'm on to the hero's journey. First up??? The destruction of the Oedipal myth. Apparently it is too thin . . .

Okay so the autarchy of uroboric is symbolized by the native copulation of the world mother, who reappears later in the form of Diane or Sophia ... got it.

This is my third attempt to read this. I may understand enough of the vocabulary to comprehend it this time. Possibly. Perhaps.

One thing I liked is that the story didn't start with a bunch of backstory, or other nonsense. It just got right to the exciting battle (which is what the cover promised).

Who knew Brandon Sanderson had such a great sense of humor? i thought he was a dead-serious fantasy writer, then I came across this. It's really irreverent and breaks the 3rd wall all the time...

Psychic powers, but used on a machine... damn, that's a good idea. This story is much more metaphysical (psychological?) than I first thought it would be.

It's really a good tale so far (~25% done). Reminds me of Bujold story, as it's much heavier on the romance than I usually read. The technology takes a backseat to the development of characters, who seem like real people instead of stiff archetypes... I like the amorality of the main character, but hope he grows a bit.
