Great story idea but characters do things that just don't seem realistic - character reaction to the shooting of two bad guys was as if it were an every day occurrence. Characters have important meeting and walk away ignoring the critical item but make a decision on another that had already been made. On top of all this the audio version is done by the author who is an amateur narrator, lip smacking pauses stumbles

Ch 2 one of the most moving description of post Pearl attack I've read - esp as relayed by the crew of the Enterprise upon their arrival to refuel. Rest of ch discusses impact of attack on US & Britain politically and Nazis. Ch 3 How Japan received the news of the successful attack. Summary of the rise of Japan's Navy. Good section on training of IJN pilots. Ch 4 Assignment of Nimitz and fall of Wake Island.

Prologue discusses evolution of modern sea power starting in the late 19th Century thru WW I, influence of ADM Mahan and "The Influence of Sea Power Upon History". Chapter One the attack on Pearl Harbor - many first hand accounts and a good look at FDR's reaction.

Organization of the book is a bit strange. Waits until chapter 20 before discussing strategic views of the Allies and Nazi views of initial assault outcomes.

I can't find any maps in the Kindle edition! Love the detail and writing style, but without maps?
