Kind of a long detour into Korea, but he may or may not bring it around in the last couple sections to the original beginning of the whole story. Still engaging, but admittedly fragmented, as each chapter stands more or less separate from the others..

More about Japan as a country - their economy, culture, history, etc. - than hikikomori themselves, but I'm really enjoying it. It all works to suggest why someone would want to completely withdraw from their society.
