Kurt is on page 482 of 1010 of And the Roots of Rhythm Remain: A Journey Through Global Music
This book is remarkable in its range and the quality of the writing. The book is about popular music in different parts of the world, the rhythms of the music, and how they evolve and intersect.

The writing style is informal and clear. This is one of the best and most engaging books I’ve ever read, and certainly one of the best I’ve read about music.

Kurt is on page 52 of 216 of Raise Up Off Me: A Portrait of Hampton Hawes
Hampton Hawes was a top-flight West Coast jazz pianist whose career was damaged by heroin addiction. So far the book is a quick ready - it has a conversational, vernacular tone.

I came across this book in January. I had often read of African Americans having Native American family and in some cases living with the tribes. This book fills in some of this history.

I’m glad to have a chance to be less ignorant of this country’s history.

I'm really interested in the subject matter but I think the writer is in desperate need of a serious editor. I wade through paragraphs with little or no content.

The subject matter interests me, but I think this book needed a lot more editing. I often find paragraphs that could be halved in length.

So far I'm enjoying this book. There are a lot of negative comments here on Goodreads about the writing.

I really wanted to like this book. Alan and John Lomax preserved so much music. I think the book needed a lot more editing than ever happened to it. There's needless repetition and a lack of organization to the book. It's worth a read, but there are parts I would skim rather than read closely.

I'm reading "Telegraph Avenue" by Michael Chabon. It's good but I find some details in the writing distracting or inaccurate.

Am reading Thomas Pynchon's "Inherent Vice." I'm liking it better than Vineland, not as much as "The Crying of Lot 49." It's m.ore a fun read
