C10 is good. The section on the smell of death and the matador is good. Andres’ journey to Golz is great inc. rejection by Marty (real life character). Ending is great. However, a lot of middling reflections by Robert which aren’t that significant and too much dialogue and time spent on Maria/Robert

C.10. Pilar talks of the murder of fascists in her town at the start of the rebellion. The ‘Dons’ are culled as part of a procession at first - through a corridor of peasants to be thrown over the cliffs to their death. Then intensifies and is barbaric. Drunks burning fascists but not for their beliefs, but because they have got carried away. Pablo believes the fascist spanish priests death was disappointing.
