Midway through Alexander Pope's mock-epic, "The Rape of the Lock." Incredible stuff.

Wow, certain political parties who trumpet their faith and purported following of the Bible could really use to memorize Proverbs 21 in The Message translation. Hard stop.

Beacons captures me, and not just because I once worked w/ author Dave's brother Doug at Giesche Shoes. I love it b/c: (1) I love newspapers, (2) I'm obsessed w/ how we get news & the death of printed papers, (3) regional IL/IA case studies resonate w/ me, and (4) I'm fascinated w/ The Chicago Defender. If you're w/ me on 3 or 4 of these reasons, you're probably going to like Beacons too. 2 or less is likely a pass.

These stories have mostly been pretty darn good so far. Enough so that I want to look for further works by several of these authors, or that I was looking for the next chapter or volume, but alas, no such luck.

(I had to return this as it was overdue, so it will be stalled out on my currently reading shelf for a while, until I can check it back out and finish it up.)

Pretty fascinating and motivational.
