Based on other reviews and my progress so far, I’ve decided I can’t be bothered to go on with this. Sure, it may be beautifully crafted but that’s not enough to merit wading through when there are so many books I do want to read. A disappointment after having loved The Secret History.

I loved this book as a child, I had it from the library for years and years. I remember it as a dark, surreal, beautifully written classic- am hoping it stands a re-read 30 years on!
