I'm kind of shocked at how much more enjoyable this one is as an audiobook. John Lee is spectacular in here. Really inspiring for me as a fledgeling VA/VO artist. Learning as I'm listening.
I haven't been able to actually read for years OR listen to audiobooks. I feel that it's changing.

That first chapter made me feel rather uncomfortable.
I guess sexual interspecies relationships weren't the first thing I wanted to read about. It wasn't disgustingly explicit or anything. Just enough to make me uncomfortable.
Also, given Mieville is, to my knowledge, very anti-israel, idk how much I like the cynical use of Shekels(it wasn't explicitly cynical in the first chapter, but idk why else he'd use it).

Just encountered the first thick hints of what appears to be magic, which were presented in a very interesting flashback memory. I liked it.
