Peter F Hamilton writes big, big stories, big characters, lots of subplots, big ideas and monumental timelines. It is worth the the read and very enjoyable but I found the first half to be a slog and hard to keep interest in. The plot threads coalesce in the second half bringing it to a dramatic and unexpected conclusion. If you like this author then this is worth a read, you just need to stick with it.
