There’s more imagery as the story progresses; I enjoy exposure to multiple realities of multiple people and wonder how they’ll come together (maybe they don’t have to).
Jahan’s story is particularly interesting to me; I wonder how the author came about the idea of writing about someone from the Iranian diaspora.

I started this book for a book club; but I didn’t have a copy until 2 days before and couldn’t finish it in time. So I picked it up again.

I find the story very symbolic and the language almost cryptic! Of course the volcano can be a symbol of fury, but I also keep wondering if it’s all a larger metaphor for the process one goes through as receiving gender affirming treatment. We shall see.

Witty, fun, deep. So far this book reminds me what life is all about: a journey through love and loss and live again. While Ove is in no way someone I would identity myself with in real life, I can really relate to the character. It's as approachable as it is reserved and that's a very interesting paradox that makes me flip through the pages.

I started reading this book because I saw a lot of positive review about it and quite frankly because of the title. At this stage, it sounds like it can be either one of the best or the worst works of non-fiction. No, the sentence ended there and wasn't supposed to be followed by "that I have ever read".
We'll see soon enough, I suppose.

"Newt
(Vaguely amused)"
Oh this is so Eddie Redmayne! I read all Newt's parts in his shyly-husky voice! And the book has made me feel like I did when I was in my early teens and read my first HP book. Only now that I am older and no how rare finding something that can tickle your numbened-by-real-life sense of fantastic imagination can become, I try to fight the urge to finish it overnight and savor each page
