This is amazing.

The most purple-ly introduction I’ve ever encountered.

In the forward, there are shots fired at a former professor of mine (my prof was “teleological.”)

This book is basically perfect, and every time I revisit it I feel myself at home.

Chesterton called Nazism a protestant denomination. Hitchens objects, but of course he would.

Glass bottles went out of use because of recycling requirements put in by Greens. Plastic had no such requirements, so bottlers switched over.

This book is tremendously interesting. I’ve read probably a dozen books on Hitler’s Germany, and more of Churchill biographies, and am still finding a lot I didn’t know.

Hitler’s orders for Churchill after the war weren’t to execute him, but confined him to a fortress and keep him well guarded so he could continue painting and write his memoirs. wtf

Even when he’s wrong, he’s brilliant.

Was there ever a better novel written?

For Lent, Lewis cut down to 3 pints before lunch.

Nietzsche: Pontius Pilate was the only good guy in the New Testament because he was right to scoff and say “what is truth?”
