I already don't want this to end. Brilliantly written.

MelonFarmer89 is on page 96 of 346 of The Taking of Annie Thorne
Very fast-paced, builds the intrigue nicely whilst showing charm and well-placed thrills with a very likeable narrator. Also a solid intro. Tudor reminds me of James Herbert and early King. She's old school and there are some undeniable throwbacks but she does the trick.

So far I think this is her weakest book. Something has to be, that's not a slating, it's still brilliantly written and far superior to most the genre has to offer but I'm not putting my life on hold to finish it like I have everything else she's written.

This is written perfectly, with some really dark themes that are executed in a way that stirs up hard-hitting memories of my own childhood a little too vividly, truth be told. Commendably powerful, and I'm not easy to move in this way, hats off.

Slaughter's usual standard of brilliance. I'm genuinely terrified of running out of her books so I spread them sporadically to keep me going.

I wasn't expecting to be enjoying this as much as I am. Merritt's writing style is superb and the small, intimate setting and characters are as intriguing as the Gothic menace throughout. Brilliant little tale. Can't wait to see where it goes.

This is brilliantly written. The detail and description gives such vivid vision. This is old school horror, Gothic and sexy but never lacking in credibility, never falling into trashy territory, far from it in fact. Great read so far.

I have loved discovering this author. I went though the first book by her, Obsession, stupidly fast. The characters are great, three-dimensional with no clear cut heroes and villains, everyone is flawed and complex with motives never clear cut. Keeps you hooked guessing from the off and her pacing is expert

Atmosphere. Intrigue. Great slowburn buildup with character fed to you in a teasingly slow manner. Definitely building to something great.

I've not read anything else by Rachel Abbot but I will when I've finished this. Very fast paced and keeps hooking you further and further in with questions, the mystery getting deeper and deeper.

Not even 20 pages in and I LOVE Taylor's style. Smooth and fluid. Generating a lot of intrigue early on.

I took a total chance on this as little is given away on the synopsis but I haven't enjoyed a book this much for a long time. It's all character and definitely drawn out, but i love that, these characters are three dimensional, living breathing people and I feel I know them intimately. And I've loved and hated each one and back again, brilliant character study, can't call where it's going so far.

Perfect for my current situation. Little free time, the free time I do get I'm too burnt out for anything too heavygoing. This sets out to intrigue and thrill, it does the trick and does it well.

It's enjoyable so far, the opening scene was great. Not his vest although admittedly it's a little soon in to say for sure. Curious to see where it goes from here.
