I forgot how practical Aristotle is. In general, he constantly reminds us to use Ocaam's Razor (forgive the anachronism) to keep a firm focus on the topic at hand, eschewing needless digressions. Precision should be utilized to the degree that the subject requires--surgery requires extreme precision; dialectic on the states of the soul can use what seems most apparently true to the majority (maxim).

Oh, yes, this holds up quite well. My 35-year-old self is enjoying it even more than my 27-year-old self. I love the dialectic form, and Socrates' ideas for establishing the kallipolis are no end of fun. I also see now how this is a great starting place for delving into philosophy.
