A third of the way through and...it's ok. I like the mystery, but the first-person present tense is probably my least favorite. It's very disingenuous...the tense action and emotional impacts of scenes are lessened by the dry telling of the events as they unfold in the present.
There's also as scene where he explains dark matter on a "date"...and she seems interested! And not fake interested! UGH!
