And so it begins. I have Kindled the PDF of the book, which is why I know I have progressed 2%, but have little idea of the page. All I can say is "Oh Mummy" :'-( No doubt a future chapter will explain why I said that :-D

Commander or, Chief Constable as he likes, Vimes has been let loose on the unsuspecting country side. So far, we find he has a hermit and grotto as garden features. Slow starter, but full of the wit and wordplay you expect of Sir Pratchett of Morpork

So far bite sized segments, enjoyable

And lastly, the white rabbit. Like the other stories it is very easy to see what is going on, however this story had a darker flavour than the others, and while predictable this darker aspect keeps you reading.

The second of the short stories, 'Vanishing Point', is complete. Much like the first story this one had all the twists and turns of a very untwisty turnless thing doing its best impression of a straight line, the plot was full of cliches, and the plot so staged that , was fairly obvious who was to blame, and what had happened before the story was half way thru.

I'm still going with it, but it's not brilliant :(

the first story of this book of short stories is Fruiting Bodies. Decidedly average, the writing was good enough, but the characters never made you want to cheer for them, and the story was on a straight path very early on, so no real mystery. we'll see what the second story brings.

good story so far, some alternative history and some re imagining of some old science fiction. Oh, and the Kindle version was free.

I have decided to explore Steam Punk, always liked the H.G Wells, clockwork science type idea.

Esk is off on her way to Ankh Morpork, and while Granny Weatherwax knows exactly where she is, everywhere else has gone and got itself lost.

Esk isn't an eagle and even tho she's a girl she probably isn't a witch. The staff thinks she should be a wizard, but that's just silly. What to do?

Well I'm warming to it. I know we now live in a sound bite society, and I think the book so far is catering to that quite successfully.
