Aslan rejects the claims if right-wing journalists by saying that Muslims are already westernized and already have European ideals.

As if that was the point. :/

He played right into the argument that western ideals are the set standard and Muslims must either assimilate or leave.
This is more of an argunent for extreme secularism rather than a book about zealot ideology.

Imagine writing 2 chapters on the ethnic cleansing of Palestine by zionists. Only to find some convoluted way to blame Al-Qaeda (???) for religious extremism in his conclusion.

Reza Aslan is either an naive neoliberal or just afraid. Either way i'm disappointed but not surprised.
