I like this book so far. It's slow-going for me to read however. I manage three or four pages a night. It seems that I didn't learn enough vocabulary in my Italian classes. And Duo is no help because he keeps forgetting if I know the word for "meat" so he keeps asking me to prove I know it rather than teaching me words like sminuzzare (to break into pieces or to crumble) or cuffiettina (a hat for a baby). It's carne.

I'm going to finish this dang book, this neverending succession of walls of words. It's so good but it's so many endless sentences my eyes get tired from the lack of pausing punctuation.

I have to take this back to the library because they won't let me check it out anymore. And that makes me sad.

Slowly but surely getting through. Slang is hard to translate, man.

This book is very heavy to read in bed. Not in content. The television series has desensitized me to splitting the heads of zombies. I mean the physical weight of the book. I guess if it's not burdensome it's not truly a compendium.

Veslovsky gets around, man. Crash someone's horses into a mud bog and then get caught hitting on his wife? Oh well. Time to move on to my next richest friend to mooch off of.

The Levin family is doomed to ruin: Nikolai with his self-destruction, Sergei and mourning a woman dead for decades, and Kostya being the biggest whiny baby this side of the Neva. You're going to let Ribbons McHandsome get your feathers ruffled, K? Come on, son.

Surprise, surprise. Anna and Vronsky are vapid art pretenders.

Anna is the living worst. Vronsky is a close second.

Now I'm guessing the Aughts, the lost years oft conflated with the late-90s when people forget we already had broadband and pervasive cell phones by then. Otherwise I'll have to reconcile using a phone book in the present and I'm unwilling to do that. Also, Little Tokyo being "dead" anywhere in the past 5 years is absurd. The book is recovering from its early Trying-Too-Hards. I actually care what happened to Emi now

I don't know where I am in time. There are keyboards and Iraq wars but there are also phone books and no cell phones. I'm guessing early-90s but I feel like I need to research the history of parking meters in Little Tokyo to know for sure.

Waiting for that other shoe to drop with Levin. He's not allowed to be this happy.

Tolstoy likes to just give you a taste of the eponymous storyline before we have to dive back into Levin and his misplaced obsession with being a farmer. Did you know if you put calves out in a field of clover they'll eat themselves to death? I do now.

Finally done with The Great Field Mowing metaphor. Almost quit when they said they had another field to mow.

Catherine doesn't know a single good person. All of her friends are a collection of jackassses.Tilney's a robot, Thorpe is the kingliest of douches, her brother is terrible, Isabella is almost certainly touched/bipolar/SWF. Really, Thorpe?
