So far, it's Ready Player One's kinda needy younger brother. It took over 90 pages to get to the point, and unlike RPO, I'm not attached emotionally to any of the characters so far. The female introduced, if she turns out to be a love interest, is a carbon copy of ROO... Older than the high school protagonist boy, but still a girl geek. I'm enjoying it, but it feels like a true sophomore effort.

Introduced to the book by a close friend of the author, I wondered if the book was really as good as he claimed, or just a friend helping a friend push a book. Turns out, it's a fun adventure through the streets of LA, with constant pop-culture references at every turn. Not done yet, but enjoying the ride so far.

I'm getting into this, but this is still no vampire or grim reaper story. Historical fiction isn't his best genre.

It's Moore's writing style, but I'm having trouble staying interested in this tale. Bring me back some vampires in San Francisco.

This is definitely a Chris Moore book. That's a good thing. :)

So wait, is the 16 year old main character getting a crush on an 85 year old girl?

Not bad, but not sure this is going to be an excellent read. Not hating it yet, though. It has potential for a good story; the characters so far are well defined, except for the fact that the main character, who is supposed to be 15-16 seems to act like he's a few years younger and people treat him that way as well, takes some of the realism away...

So far, I'm engrossed. There had better be a point to the sections written in the first person, though. Not feeling the love yet for that.

I like the characters, I like the writing style, but I'm not a fan of the genre. Can't get into reading it lately, so I'll put it on the side and try it again some other time.

Not bad, but not his best work. I'm having trouble keeping myself interested in this, so I read a few pages every now and then.

It's picking up but still starting slow, even for a Tom Holt book.

Shortly after reading a book overflowing with 80's references, this seems the appropriate follow-up.

Horror isn't my thing, but Strand is an excellent writer, so I'll keep on plodding through. Have to see what he's written that isn't as gory...

I probably wouldn't have picked this one up from reading the synopsis, but having been handed the book by another reader, I find the writing style interesting and easy to stay engaged, so we'll see.
