I had to take a pause on this book because it is just too emotional for me. I can't read it without getting very upset (I think it's especially bad because I know how the story ends). On the plus side, Nadezhda did make sure that her beloved husband was remembered as one of the greatest Russian poets to ever live, so take that Stalin!

I don't like it so far, sorry, BUT I do like that it led me to discover Christopher Smart's poem about his cat... from his work Jubilate Agno. It's long but it's worth a read I think. Very touching and a bit funny (but then again, the man was possibly mentally ill and his cat was his only nice company...)

So far enjoying it, it's rather campy but I think that's only because all of the cliches that came from it are so popular now.

Ok I’ve calmed down, by this point I’m not so emotional about it. I don’t think that’s a good thing, but I feel like I can still be surprised. We’ll see!

I cried like five times and I’m not even on the third chapter yet
