Oh boy do I HATE Halle's father. This is tough to read because although the setting is the 1930s, the role of "father" is basically the exact same as it is today. This dude doesn't take care of the house or his child at all & is obviously mad about the miscarriages because he'd prefer to have a son. In today's world, he'd call raising a child "babysitting," & all I wanna do is kick him in the balls GRRRRRRR
