I heard a review of this one on NPR, and decided to give it a try, it being free on the kindle and all. I started it reading it aloud to Darin on the road to and from Ohio/Michigan, and we've been joking about the wonderful picture hanging scene as we hang our pictures in the new house. So far still pretty funny more than 100 years after it was written.

Quit half way through. Maybe I'll try another one of his books later. This one was both frustrating and incredibly repetitive and I have no idea why it is a "classic". Sorry to be cynical. Didn't like it.

I never did finish this one. I got distracted with moving, and could never focus on it.

I'm STILL really not sure what makes D.H. Lawrence so famous or why this book made so many top 100 lists. I'm only still reading it to lull me to sleep at night during the stress of preparing to move. Lately they walk through cathedrals which alternately stirs their love and hate for one another. It is the exactly the same as the last 25% of the book, but in a different setting and they are more bored. Me too!

Oi! May not make it through this one... So far as I've told many of you-- they loved each other, they hated each other, they loved each other, they hated each other. Redundant does not begin to describe it.

New free kindle book. It has made a lot of people's top 100 lists. I've never read anything by D.H. Lawrence before, so I thought I'd check this out next in my current round of catch up on the classics.

This was an impulse "buy" (free) from the kindle store- chosen for being on few top 100 lists. So far quite a page turner, even if I do care a bit more for some of the more sympathetic secondary characters than for the main character. Characterization of the important characters is well done. I will see if I still like it by the end. I do not expect a happy ending.
