I have had this fantasy many times.

Interesting, and I always think of the California Redwoods as magical. The author is clearly knowledgeable about the topic of death, but I am not certain what she is advocating.

I am hooked on this right now. It's really interesting, and the content is not that disturbing; in fact, I have read horror and crime stories that have more grotesque content.

We would prefer to think of it as compulsory friendship as opposed to a hostile takeover.

Well, combat surgery is never pretty, but this reminded me of how crazy field medicine is. During combat, soldiers get a good view of the inner workings of human anatomy, and some dudes really believe that if they have enough duct tape, they can fix anything. It's really best to stay with the basics of first aid, and really, that's the smart move.

The author has excellent writing skills, but after chapter 14, I think I might just stop reading this. It's like rehashing old news and reruns. But, I am only a quarter of the way into this book, so because the author is obviously skilled, I will press on a little further.
