I don’t think anyone could have done a much better job of reflecting the complexity, nuance and reality of this historic period.
It does make you hope that if a similar crisis were to arise we, as a society, would avoid those same pitfalls that prevented unnecessary death in the case of aids. However, politicising of health matters seems to have intensified so one can only hope we don’t have to find out.
