Chapter 2 was a super interesting chapter. We get Olivi's critique of indirect realism as well as his own direct realist view. Along with that we also get into the finer details of Olivi on representational content and post-perceptual cognition (memory, imagination etc...). While I'm not sure that Adriaenssen does enough to prove Olivi's critique is a response to Aquinas, the material proves interesting nonetheless.

I am loving this book and this series so much, but I've figured out what my one gripe is. The chapters focusing on Dujek and Brood's armies (i.e. all the characters we are familiar with from "Gardens") are not flowing super well. I think because we already know these characters, Erikson doesn't have to develop them, and the result is that these chapters are where he dumps a lot of world-building exposition.

I love the detailed exploration of the Barghast that Erikson is giving us in this book. I am learning so much about Barghast tradition and culture that the books Barghast characters feel so well-realized. I think Erikson did a decent job with one or two races in the first two books, but here the added cultural details and histories of people like the Imass and the Barghast is especially good.

I'm really enjoying the breakneck pace of this book so far. There is alot more exposition and info-dumping than what I got used to reading in the previous two books, but I love Erikson's world and the deep, complex mythology he has created. It almost feels like THIS is the first book in the main story and the previous two were just preludes. It is a bit less focused than DhG so far, but I am seriously enjoying it.
