So disappointed... all Yanagihara did was scraping lightly of the surface of something that potentially can be so true and so magnificent. But I dont want to leave another book unfinished ( well at least starting from end of june 2020)

It s not as good as i thought. The beginning was marvelously enticing but then it just went downhill. I m disappointed. Hope it ll pick up somewhere in the middle.

it's okay... I guess. not as good as I expected but surly not as bad.

I have strongly mixed feelings about this book

this book is absolutely marvellous!!! it is stunning!!!

This book s harder for me to understand than all the other Cain books I've read. The general gist I can get (she said, half-heartedly) but to each and every single sentences, I do meet some troubles. I only read this coz I love Cain and I know for a fact that even if it s a confusion, it would be a very short one.

It s a fun book, but comparing to Austen?!! Let's not kid ourselves. Come on!!! PS I detect the same recipe for the similar chinese historical fictions as in this one. Roll my eyes, should not have started this book. 中文和英文的古言小说真的是一样一样的。 别逗了还和奥斯汀比，给我们简提鞋都不配好嘛。当然了，这肯定是好看的消遣小说，每天晚上都看得我津津有味的，但是我不会再看这位作者的第二本书了。

有效内容就只剩下 10% 了。作者真的是各种不愿意给梵高 benefit of the doubt 也完全没有 principle of charity。很多地方作者的这个别扭的，就好像流潋紫非得把乾隆和乌拉那拉皇后塑造成真爱一样别扭。写到这最后，作者的口吻甚至有种：总之梵高和提奥，都不是什么好鸟？！！真的是够了。这本书翻来覆去折磨了我一年，终于快看到胜利的曙光了。加油吧。。。。。 啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊！烦。
