So after 1 chapter I am finding out that I am a pretty good leader. I had almost the exact same issue where my team experienced a failure and instead of deflecting blame or blaming my subordinates, I took all of the blame. I took the blame and made sure we learned from it. Funny thing is that I was ostracized and frowned upon. I was told that I don't hold my subordinates accountable. SMH. Great book thus far.

Did not realize hat Trane died 2 days before I was born. Hat might explain part of my affinity for Jazz. I'm sure there was plenty of Trane being played as I entered the world. Because of how hard he worked and how much he was searching he left behind a ton of music for Alice to eat off of. That's what's up

Funny to read how the whole Producer getting in the pictures and taking credit didn't start with Puffy. That's been going on for a long time. LOL Oh and BTW, Trane was a god and to hear the musicians talk about him is unbelievable

Funny how in the late 50s they are taking about how jazz is going into he pop market and that it was everywhere. Movies, TV, commercials. Jazz had new friends in corporate America. Jazz has so many parallels to hip hop that it's not funny. I just don't think hip hop will move forward like jazz but that's my opinion.

Loved how Wynton described the modern day jazz festivals that have no jazz musicians playing. Those jazz festivals have always been a joke to me.

Excellent book so far. Wynton does a great job of explaining jazz music and it's intricacies in addition to comparing it to everyday life. If you've ever seen Wynton in concert you know that he is an excellent story teller with his trumpet as well as verbally. This. Ok as been a carryover to that so far. Loving this book so far.

Quest, Dilla, D'angelo and Q-tip hanging out making music. SMH. Unbelievable would have loved to be hanging out at Quest's crib when the Roots, Jilly, Musiq, Eve, Erika were hanging out just making music. Loving this book!!!!

It's kind of cool reliving all of the music I grew up listening to and now Quest relates his life to it. The whole Prince era was crazy. I vividly remember that era.
