Donal Webster: touching and intriguing portrait of a family

Perkus Tooth: utterly wild, but remarkably evocative of that kind of rabbit-hole friendship. the ending felt a bit too simple, but it was overall a very interesting experience

Theo: excellent dreamy slice of a fairy tale

Cindy Stubenstock: if you’re going to do full dialogue for your shtick, then do it; in any case, very boring story

Roy Spivey: 很有feel

Soleil: a lot happened and was perfectly stressful; really an excellent sense of both Soleil and Gabrielle

Rhoda: impressively unending stream of conversation; nothing like MY grandma, but very much like the archetypal grandma

Puppy: feels kinda shallow and depressing in a way that reminds me of things I used to read; appreciate contrasting points of view, though

Judge Gladys Parks-Schultz: a lot of interesting pieces that never coalesced

Nigora: names and places i’m unfamiliar with made this interesting, but i didn’t love it. nigora was compelling, though! would not want to be her friend.

The Monster: intriguing and thoughtful and surprisingly sad; definitely hits me like some of those first experiences of sci-fi magazines

Magda Mandela: very easy to picture! funny; would have enjoyed a novel-length version of this kind of mild distress (to the reader and everyone but magda)

Jordan Wellington Lint: great art style, but a bit unclear in the end

The Liar: oh ho ho aren’t you the clever one 🙄

Lélé: really full world and characters, even the husband who factors in only lightly

J. Johnson: author bios was very fun concept, and very effective, too

Hanwell Snr: lord of missing information in the best possible way; strong characters and an interesting surprise of a narrator

Gordon: really good, until the final section

Gideon: kinda dull, some pretty imagery with the crickets in odd jars and the couple spooning (uncomfortably)

Frank: interesting orbit around loss
