I'm obsessed.

Holy crap!

Holy crap. Picked this one up on the way to the tub and totally got swept up in it. Read the first 73 pages in one breathless stretch. Genius!

And we're on the stormy island!

Fantastic, multi-layered meta-examination of psychoanalysis, memoir and transitional objects. Heady and bogged down in babble at times, but ultimately it resonates with an unusual depth and wit. I'm looking forward to the next installment...get to livin', Bechdel!

This one's really taxing, forcing my psychotherapy background to come out of the brain bunker. Lots of object-relations theory and a deft stitching of literary memoir make Bechdel's follow-up to FUN HOME both a challenge and a delight.

I had a "moment" with this book. Reminiscent of reading Jennifer Egan's The Keep where I was inspired to write better. It has been years in between. This book if beautiful.

Oh man. Get this: "A writer needs four things to achieve greatness, Pasquale: desire, disappointment, and the sea." "That's only three." Alvis finished his wine. "You have to do disappointment twice." Truth. Absolute and in print. All I can do is nod.
