Okay, this is much less gruesome and much more what I would from this series. Settling into enjoyment mode.

That was quite the blood bath. and given what I know of this book/series there will be more yet to come, but it's a relief to see an end to the brutality of this particular section of the book.

I will always love the phrase "wake up dead." Always.

The cast of characters and fae world is rich and developed already, though I feel like there are big things Tobey is missing, though I don't know Macguire 's writing quite well enough to identify what yet.

I totally thought I had read this installment of the series but nope, I was wrong.

Damn, Locke is good.

Kind of lackluster writing for a biography of such an interesting woman, but, you know, Ada Lovelace conquers all obstacles including stylistic 'meh.'

And the authorial hammer strikes again in triplicate. I suppose I'm getting used to it at this point.

I am not okay with this character's death. So not okay. *sulks*

So far I'm really enjoying this series of ghost story vignettes and am looking forward to seeing who this book continues to unfold.

I'm always pleased when actual science comes into my science fiction, and Mira Grant tends to do it smashingly. I'm glad to be back in the Parasitism universe and excited for the read.

This book is just glorious. The prose is rich and vibrant and the backdrop of the immigrant communities of NYC is the perfect setting for the story of these two displaced mythic creatures trying to find their place in a mundane world. The otherworldliness in their characters is just enough and never goes overboard. A truly beautifully written novel that I'd like to lose myself in again someday.

This was thrust into my hands by a friend when I complained about The Map of Time being my only book left to read for my bus trip and I'm not yet disappointed.
