Well written, definitely challenging some of my beliefs! Can't really ask for much more from a nonfiction.

Super interesting because there's a lot of connections to the paper I'm writing in terms of the psychology behind it... status quo bias...

This is so good! AHHHHHHH. On a more serious note a very interesting exploration of what Hell is, especially since my religion doesn't really have Hell.

I've somehow managed to delete this book off of my shelf... a five star reread regardless

I think that Gale is a good leader; he prizes the ideas and actions of rebellion above himself and his family and friends. What I'm reflecting on this time around is that that a lot of why I dislike him is that I value my family and friends more than change, but I'm not sure if that is better. I think a balance of the two is needed.

Even though I've read this too many times there's just little sentences that catch me by surprise 🥹

Yes I am reading it again. Yes I am still finding new little bits of foreshadowing. Yes it will likely end in me reading the Gregor the Overlander series.

Ugh Susanne Collins is already making me think deeply about privacy and who is allowed it

I think this book is simultaneously heart breaking (knowing that some of these languages are threatened) and inspiring, seeing how many people within these languages are working to revitalize them. How much knowledge that cannot be expressed could be lost because the number of young speakers are dwindling?

This really goes into the history of the Uyghurs and I'm learning so much!

There's moments where I'm captivated, and others where I think this book is too artsy for me
