✔️GREEN & YELLOW.
Reading back thru the colored margin text goes pretty fast. It’s a little disjointed; non-linear. Sometimes there are notes that don’t make sense that are made clear several pages/chapters later.
At this point my brain’s allowed me to to read, absorb & move on whether it makes sense at the time or not. Excited to read thru Red & Purple & black. Many inserts to payoff on final read thru.

✔️chapter 9.
Odd. Time passes. All of the sudden S is in the Winter City (hell?) where others are though all are alone… however, finally! He gets instructions to got to a building with Sobreiro’s name on it. Inside it is Sola! After all this time. She leads him back to SOT. It is rebuilt. He goes back to orlop deck & scribes visions of Vévodas chateau; a plan to kill him finally?

Very little black & blue margin writing this chapter. Makes going back & reading for those much quicker: nice.
A ton more green & orange and purple & red.

✔️chapter8.
Visits “The Territory” to assassinate the “Governor” or Nēmec who’s mining the island & destroying natives lands and who -plot twist- ends up being a much older Pfeifer who was supposed to have been killed back on the original Vévoda island.
Kills him. Of course the natives that helped him are also now dead and he finds his ship blown to bits by bombers, nuked w/ “the substance.”

Interlude.
He’s held (down at the end of ch7) by the ships pirates as the stitch his lips together. Really the only gripping part of ch7 (but possible I was tired when reading).

Now the ship travels to various ports in search of Vévoda’s 57 agents. He assassinates an agent or 2 at a time in a variety of ways, reboards the ship, shaves a beard that grows each time and restitches his lips again & again 😳

Chapter 7: This one was slow and a little tough to get through. No inserts and limited blue and black margin riding which actually is kind of nice. Just means they’re going back through chapter 7 again to read those notes won’t take long at all.

Wow. Chapter 6: a long one but INTENSE. 250-some pages in and we still don’t know who S is. HE doesn’t know who S is. Is he an amnesiac James Bond or Jacques Clouseau (pink panther) that continues to stumble into danger in every chapter. He seems to be the only person to ever survive each chapter. Acquaintances beware.

✔️chapter 3. The SOT itself is good. I’ve started skipping all margin scribbles except what’s written in pencil. I’ll go back and read through just the black & blue ink. This was a good way to consume the last chapter somewhat linearly.

Wow. Really impressed so far. Part of wishes it wasn’t so long, because I’m understanding what a time commitment this is going to end up being. But through the first two chapters (mixed with quarantining in my bedroom with ZERO other obligations & limited entertainment resources), it’s been thoroughly entertaining. I’m impressed. So complex & layered.
