wow, what a twist of fate. That was great--just when you least expect it, but the setup was there.

I also think that it's slowing down for me because there's also too much filtering through the MC's POV and not letting the other characters and actions speak for themselves.

I think it's because a key story-environment has been revealed and we are ignoring it and continuing along the original arc.

The story is starting to drift.

Cool, nothing like a noob unintentionally screwing up--but someone tries to say that maybe it really wasn't his fault.

"quantum stack" -- "quantum" and "AI" is equivalent to magic in sci-fi.

Oh wow--what a story-environment twist!

The MC's character is touching but it is only touched on in passing.

Amnesia and remembering via dreams is so cliché.

Nice end-of-scene foreshadowing: "Just before the map disappeared and I fully passed out, my eyes caught a single blue dot moving into town."

Nice metaphor and its cuteness contrasts with the grisly action: "blood flying like water off a shaking dog"

Less filtering (through the POV) and more direct action would make scenes more immersive.

I like the ocean abysses too but only if they're more than oceans.

On a simply environment-development level, I like the inclusion of sensory level and it doesn't seem to addressed all too often.

The history of the author’s family was a bit long for the stated focus of the book, but nonetheless it was a very worthwhile read.
