In the first canto of book I, there are moments that remind me of Tolkien and Lewis.

Stanza 13: "Fly fly (quoth then / The fearefull Dwarfe:) this is no place for liuing men."
cf. Gimli and the Paths of the Dead?

Stanzas 14-19 and 24: the encounter with Errour, a monster that seems to be half serpent and half woman, reminds me a little of the encounter with the witch in The Silver Chair.

“By the best authorities, [Procopius] has always been considered a most trustworthy and unexaggerating historian, except in some one or two particulars, not at all affecting the matter presently to be mentioned.”

There's a bit not long after our heroine goes through the portal to her Other World which reminds me of The Lion, the Witch & The Wardrobe in two respects. First, she and a centaur are equally surprised to see a legendary creature. Second, when she's at a loss, thinking she must be dreaming, the centaur helps her out with logic, offering "options" for what she should do in each case.

Great example of prophecy (n) vs prophesy (v): “The prophecy was that I should be dismembered; and—Aye! I lost this leg. I now prophesy that I will dismember my dismemberer. ”
