So I've tried reading this book before, but I never got very far. After powering through a few of the slower parts, interest in the book grew exponentially. It does require a good imagination to properly envision the fights, otherwise it just sounds like meaningless gibberish, but otherwise I am having a lot of fun with this book now.

Got slightly slower again when he arrived at Naglimund, but it's picking up, especially when the author jumps between the viewpoints of Miriamele, Simon, Isgrimnur and Leobardis. It's agonizing when he leaves off like that!

It started out very slow... It didn't get very good until around page 161. Anyone reading this, make sure you hold out that far! That's where the action starts and where Simon begins to develop more as a hero-potential character.
