To be perfectly honest --- and I know this comment will go against the grain --- this novel is horrifically dull. I have been following these characters for nearly 400pgs, and it feels like nothing ever happens. And the few times anything "important" happen (such as Pug meeting with Hitler, Briny & Natalie in Poland during the bombings), it feels so contrived. You can see the master of puppets pulling strings.
