I genuinely did not remember Thorne as a character but I still can’t get over how good this series was for a YA dystopian. I’m excited to see what happens because I genuinely can’t remember

I haven’t read Freida’s books in ages and yeah I’m going to eat this up - it started well although predictable but I need something easy after Onyx storm and I think this is perfect

Listening on Audiobook - love the narrator

I think Xaden isn’t my Favourite male character anymore sadly and Haldens introduction was … interesting although I’m disappointed Xaden became so so jealous. I miss non venin him

Omg General Sorrengials death was … crazy - really emotional given that she’s actually a massive villain

I’m surprised by the fliers joining ranks so early but I’m very happy we’re keeping up the training and schooling elements of the story. I feel like without that I’m not sure how it would pan out

I actually love Violet as a character and that is something I was hesitant about reading book 1 because normally in these popular books the fmc isn’t very likable so this has been a very pleasant surprise

Yk what this plot is giving a lot more than I thought it would .. and especially how Aetos and Varrish are trying to assassinate the ”revolution” kids

I miss Xaden

I don’t get how anyone likes Daisys character - she’s irresponsible, never holds herself accountable and so selfish. Especially with her friendship with Simone. She doesn’t have any regard for her or her time at all

I’m really curious what else is going on with Xaden - I mean how much more could Violets mother have done to him

Daisy is much more of an addict / mess in the book and Billy is definitely more of an asshole

I’ve read dire bound and this was compared to it so much but I’m getting a lot more Divergent vibes ? I’m not sure why but Shailene is my Violet atm. And I’ve fallen for Xaden already although I know that’s supposed to come later

Started listening to this on audiobook and I have to say I think that seems like a better option than reading - considering the format of the book. I loved the show but this is already so different I don’t know if it’ll match up to it for me

I absolutely adore this friendship between Lila and Phoebe and I genuinely think this book is going into my 2026 faves

I am so annoyed I didn’t realize their secret - of COURSE they’re cannibals - I should’ve predicted that

I feel like with this read I’m constantly waiting for a spooky twist that I’m not sure is coming .. I love Olivie writing style so much, but it does lead to slower reads as it relies heavily on narrative and reflection rather than action

I think I like this concept and I haven’t read much along these lines before. I hope Olivie doesn’t let me down again though because I do love her writing style

I’m not sure this was worth my money but I do enjoy some elements of the stories although I feel like they’re all a bit far fetched, especially Ari and Anna’s story

I’m sorry Jocelyn and Luke’s story was a snooze fest 😴

I love reading about Will and Tessa again but I can’t help but feeling Will making that wish “to forget all his pain” is so out of character - he would never be that stupid and after everything that led them to be together , he never would’ve risked losing his memory of her

Okay the twist with Gary was Good I am very happy

Oh.

My prediction is that Ruth is “Naomi” and it’s a flash forward thing and that her husband killed the wrong guy and Quinn was her actual attacker. That’s what Freida McFadden would do anyway

I love this twist that they have betrayed each other in their scheme … it was seeming too straight forward. The set up is perfect I can’t wait to read more
