This is a fun book to read, but at 60% and I had to switch over to audiobook as it started to feel like watching a movie instead of the the thought provoking or mind enrichment type of reading, which I prefer. I had other books that I am currently reading that I need to prioritize.

It was a rough go at first but I’m starting to understand the world she builds. It has aspects of our own world in terms of race, class, genetics, science but the platform she puts this fantasy makes it extremely compelling. I’m at the “can’t put it down, can’t stop talking about” phase of the book.

The book starts with a women (Essun) who is Orogeny -(considered a low caste, deadly and dangerous racial group). When her husband learns their son has powers that can destroy people and things, he kill him.
