I’d forgotten what a commitment Japanese novels can be; 149pp. into the book and the actual crime is yet to be committed. Definitely in for the long haul here.

Good golly, this is slow. The main event of the book doesn’t take place until p120. By p172, Milius Has dome a bit of surveillance, but is chiefly worried about his breakfast choices. I am worried we will soon be treated to ten pages of him doing his receipts whilst worrying about his affair.

Meh.

Not sure what to make of this one - odd and unsettling little stories, which show real flair and imagination. But I haven’t been gripped so far.

It's ok.

To be honest, a little too much procedural and not enough police.
