Monopolies are seldom -if ever- positive. I do not adopt a wait-and-see position because I feel too strongly about it. Even if I'm just a tiny fish in the Goodreads ocean I do not feel I have to accept things with which I fundamentally disagree. It was a pleasure to have known you online and I wish you all the best. Dear all, after some consideration I have decided to delete all my books here and suspend my activity on Goodreads indefinitely. I will not vanish completely but restrict my presence to the bare minimum. The reason for this drastic action is the acquisition of Goodreads by Amazon. I refuse to be part of a behemoth that steadily increases its monopoly in the world.
