I read the premise and realised the main characters of this series are just incredibly dramatic, ha-ha!

Predicted how this poem, ‘The Mirror in the Entrance Hall’, would go, but what utterly flattering words dedicated to its subject! The youth is said to possess ‘beauty in all its perfection’ even to something that has seen ‘thousands of objects and faces.’ Additionally, I find that turn of phrase a perfect ending to the poem.

As regards the poem ‘In the Same Space’, its second half speaks to me: ‘I have fashioned you in joy and in sorrow, / through so many happenings, out of so many things. / You’ve been wholly transformed into feeling, for me.’ Now I know that is a universal phenomenon.

The illustration says ‘SHEGGSPEARE’; how unexpected. Ha-ha!

‘The Next Table’ is a somewhat disturbing poem to be frank.

I am enjoying the poem ‘Grey’ as well, particularly the final stanza: ‘Memory, keep those eyes just as they were. / And memory, whatever you can salvage of that passion of mine, / whatever you can, bring back to me tonight.’ However, I would opt for a capital letter in Memory here always.

‘I Left’ may be my favourite poem in this collection. To me, the first half offers relatability and the second, a vicarious liberation.
