Dewey’s recommendation was indeed radical: build the curriculum not around academic subjects, but around occupational activities, which provide provided maximum opportunities for pure interaction & socialization.. Since beginning of western civilization, the school curriculum had been centered around the development of academic skills, the intellectual faculties, & high literacy. Dewy wanted to change all that.

My house schools have changed from being sources of academic learning to behavior, cognitive therapy facilities.

SE( Social Emotional Learning) should be at the heart of every project because SEL is the pulse of PBL(Project Based Learning).

Through the PBL … they acquire a set of skills beyond the academic content: confident & compassionate problem-solving, intentional, collaboration, & advocation for others.

… All students deserve an education, focused on boosting their academical, social, and emotional strengths.

This is probably my 9th time to read this book. Every time I finish it I think I’ll not need to read it again because I’ve already read it so much. But every time I decide to do it again, I’m so grateful because I always learned something new and something stands out that didn’t before. So thankful for Tara-Leigh Cobble. I’m using her Bible with the Recap included and it is my favorite version so far.
