The more fossil fuel company expand into peoples land, communities, water supply, etc., the more protest will follow. People, especially indigenous people, need to continue to fight against expansion and uphold their rights of their land. Deinvest from fossil fuels to take away their political power while renewables continue to close the energy gap.

Geoengineering provides potential to mitigating the effects of climate change; however, it’s fighting pollution with more pollution. It’s like a leaky roof: you can keep getting more buckets to catch water, but at some point you need to fix the damn roof.

SRM tech can lower global temp, but if we cease maintaining it, it will be a massive heat wave due to extreme levels of CO2 in atmosphere. Need to reduce CO2.

We need to shift away from an extraction based economy where we just take and take and instead focus on a regenerative economy. If we keep extracting, we will destroy more ecosystems and pollute the atmosphere in the name of profits.

Both parties are guilty of this. The difference is in how they choose to distribute the profits from such endeavors.

Corporations need to be restricted from donating to politicians. Politicians should not be able to accept money from the industries they regulate. Citizens United has allowed corporations to control legislation in the country and prevents any real progress.

Cap donation amounts, make it fully transparent, publicly fund elections, and stop corporations from donating.

The best time to transition our economy it into a green one was after the 2008 financial crisis. Invest in public transit, renewables, and smart grid to create millions of jobs. Instead they bailed out the banks with no stipulations and that money went straight into corporate executives’ pockets.
Also, author claims nuclear requires fossil fuels for mining, but fails to mention mining required for solar/batteries.

Global minimum corporate tax is good and making polluters pay is needed to pay for climate change mitigation measures. Carbon tax, carbon cap, closing tax safe havens are all needed to fund the great transition to clean energy like nuclear, solar, wind, and hydro.

Consumerism in the US also needs to decrease. We buy too much, and things don’t last.

I disagree with the author on nuclear energy. There is no path to net-zero without nuclear, especially with how little time we have to take actions on climate change.

Also, free trade laws squander any attempts to mitigate climate change because they block provisions that require local resources and workers (which creates local jobs). All this does it help countries like China who have no protections for workers.
