Amazing already:
Gangs, such as the Dead Rabbits, Bowery Boys, Plug Uglies, and the Roach Guard would get into fights so often that a system existed where carts and wagons were used to block cross streets so that they could hit each other with "brickbats" (exactly what it sounds like - a brick used as a bat). Hellcat Maggie, an affiliate of the Dead Rabbits, filed her teeth sharp and had long metal fingernails.
