uh-oh, i'm in danger of not following the story because i'm immediately lost in the narrator's voice!!! 😍

i think i can already summarise my thoughts on this book: a vile and jealous main character, who is exactly like (if not worse than) her biological family, goes on a murder spree because she wants all the money. oh how she hates the rich people because they have the money and she doesn't! how much more superior she is because she doesn't have their wealth! that absolutely gives her the right to be a judgy bitch! -_-\

starting this with no expectations, I just need something less heavy after The Vegetarian

last chapter to go. I feel like I'll need a book with few to no male characters in it after this one

gotta be honest with myself here, I'm not sure if I'll manage to get to the end with this one. Grace is a type of person who I'd absolutely hate irl - an absolute hypocrite. i can guarantee you she wouldn't have gone on this rampage if she'd been born into wealth that she pretends to despise so much. I'll see if anything of interest happens after the third murder (well, fourth, technically), otherwise it'll be a dnf

i honestly don't understand Anika's reasons for hiding whatever she's hiding. even if they had been explained (which they hadn't), it STILL wouldn't make any sense, considering what everyone already knows about her and Finn's relationship.

also, honestly, the first 4 hours of this book should've been included in the 2nd part, without them the sequel felt really incomplete

the first part felt like love at first sight and immediate elopement; the sequel was like getting to know your new spouse closer and realising that maybe getting married so soon was a rash decision; the third part so far feels like you're actually considering divorce now

not a fan of the voice actor's choice for Holland. or Lyla. or Rhy. also, when I was reading this for the first time, I was closer to Lyla in age and could relate to her a lot. now, in my 30s, hearing that she's 19, I'm like, ".....oh she's just a baby!"
