It seems hypocritical for someone who is an apostate and fails to contribute any anecdotes about true personal hardship into her memoir to be writing a book about faith and pain. This feels forced. This reads as trite and inauthentic.

This is a one star book. Skip this one. I’ll finish it for the person who recommended it to me, but don’t bother starting it.

Very uninspiring

The translation is great. The commentary is not really helpful or all that interesting. The book of proverbs is fantastic. I’ve struggled through proverbs in several translations, and it has never been coherent the way it is by Alter

Excellent

I am actually really enjoying this book. I don’t usually go for the self-hep psychology stuff, even the Christian psychology stuff, but this isn’t bad.
