Third Dortmunder caper novel I'm reading. As in the previous books, the story in told in three acts. First act, plan the caper. Second act carry out the caper. Third act, caper falls apart. Slapstick crime novels by Donald Westlake in which crime does not pay.

Pretty long winded, talking about the geography of Tombstone back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, left fossils that turned into gold or silver. The history of every soul that passed through Tombstone and their ancestors. The actual shooting took only one chapter, but to understand why it took place, the author wants you to understand how these jigsaw pieces of man and nature formed town and people of Tombstone.

In high school, read a few of these reprints when they appeared at the local drugstore in paperback format. This would have '69-'71. Happy to see many of these exciting pulp classics available in E format to download to my device. In those years since high school, rediscovered pulps. Love 'em.
