Somehow I always find Emily's books to be very slightly interesting, but extremely tiresome. It's a short book so I'll push through, but I do not have high hopes. She has a way of making all her characters entirely dull, no one acts like real people, just approximations or caricatures. It's cartoonish with none of the fun or even guilty pleasure.
