So far, I'd definitely rec. this to any/all sf/f buffs!!

Just finished the first 2 novellas in the Viriconium omnibus and, HOLY SHIT!! Remarkable. Harrison is painting with words; for a world as bleak and unforgiving as the one in which Viriconium (a city like no other...) is situated, the descriptions are truly beautiful and masterfully crafted. I'm truly at a loss for how impressed I am with this book so far!

Just finished Shadow of the Torturer; onto Claw of the Conciliator!!

I plan to finish "book" 1 (of 4) today. Then, I'll need to decide whether to dive right into "book" 2, or jump into another series (I'm planning to read Book of the New Sun, Jack Vance's Tales of The Dying Earth, and Glen Cook's Chronicles of the Black Company concurrently). Decisions, decisions. . . .

I'm still liking this but the story itself seems to sort of lack some urgency needed by its mid-way point (just my 2 cents). . . .
