Excited to start this book after an recommendation from my In-Laws (who also gifted me with this copy of the book!)

So far so good.
The novel reads very causal. I mean for sure Updike being overly wordy, but it still reads sort stream of conscious like.

The literary device the novel uses to tell its story is that the narrator is writing a response to the “Northern New England Association of American Historians” inquiry of how he remembers the Ford administration. So the casual tone of narrator fits to the needs of the novel.

Better than Game of Thrones. The characters are relatable. I find most fantasy novels full of grandiose characters that lack any sense of relatability.

I have grown tired of fantasy stuff that looks to become the next Lord of the Rings. I’d much rather read something a little fun.
